Question

3. Paul's Diner advertises that lunch will be served in 20 minutes or less. A random sample of

9 lunches showed a mean serving time of 22 minutes and a standard deviation of 6 minutes.

Assume the serving times are normally distributed.

Part A: Is there sufficient evidence from the sample to conclude that Paul's Diner is not

living up to their claim? Test the hypothesis at the 1% level of significance. Make sure to

state the null and alternative hypotheses and to report your conclusion?

Part B: If we decide to reject Ho based on sample statistic, what would be type I error?

Show how you came up with the answer.

What is type II error? What is more important to control here: type I or type II error? Please

explain.
