=4. Contaminated water (p = 997 kg/m³) flows at constant rate through a pipe junction as shown. The velocity at section 1 is V₁ = 8 m/s. Water leaves section 2 at V₂ 6 m/s. Diameters of all pipe sections are D = 4 cm. Absolute pressure at section 1, P₁ = 106 kPa, where as pressure at the other two sections is atmospheric P₂ = P3 = 100 kPa. Atmospheric pressure acts on the outside of the pipe walls. We are looking down on to a horizontal pipe system,so gravitational forces are to be excluded. Find the anchoring force needed to hold the pipe in place. Clearly indicate which direction the force acts (you may show directions for th ex and y components separately). Clearly indicate your control volume, and also show what conservation laws you are using. Work in symbolic variables and find numerical values in the end. Box final answer.
