Question

5. (20 points) You've travelled back in time to the construction of the pyramids. The Egyptians have a problem:they are trying to get several supplies up to the workers on

top. They've tied together a 20 kg crate of food, a100 kg crate of bricks, and a 50 kg block of ice. They ran the rope through a pulley at the top of the pyramid, and people will pull the rope on the other side of the pyramid (they give you a diagram like the one here). The coefficients of friction between the food, bricks, and ice with the pyramid are 0.4, 0.7, and 0.05, respectively. If the workers pull their rope with a force of 4000 N, what is the tension in the first rope (T1)?
