Question

6) For the year 2020, as of Sunday, 13 September, wildfires on the west coast of the United States (WA, OR, CA) have burned roughly 5 million acres (640 acres

per square mile). The combined population of these three states is roughly 54 million people. The average carbon footprint of a US citizen (carbon dioxide equivalent) is roughly 16 tons/year. (30 pts) a) Develop a model to estimate the total amount of carbon dioxide produced in these wild-fires. You will need to make some educated guesses and assumptions to carry this out. Clearly state (and box) these. b) Estimate the carbon dioxide produced per person as a result of these fires and compare this to the average US carbon footprint. Comment briefly.
