About this Assignment || Need 7 – 8 slides use July month to calculate the journal || Do sketching by hand rest typed In this course, you learned about the phases of the Moon, how the visible portion of the Moon changes during the lunar cycle, and how the Sun, Earth, and Moon are positioned relative to each other as the phases of the Moon change. For this assignment, observe this for yourself in action by recording the Moon over the course of a full lunar cycle and sketching the portion of the Moon visible during each observation. Moon Journal Keep a Moon journal during a lunar cycle (30 days): 1) Observe the moon once a day, whenever it is visible. 2) Sketch the appearance of the Moon as it appears that day. 3) Note the date and time of your observation. 4) Write the times of sunrise, moonrise, sunset, and moonset for that day to track the evolution of the times with the phase of the Moon. 5) When there is a new moon, first quarter moon, full moon, or third quarter moon, sketch a diagram of the positions of the Sun, Earth, and Moon relative to one another in addition to the daily sketch of the Moon's appearance. 6) On days when the Moon is not visible, note the times when you tried to observe the Moon and make a conjecture as to why you could not see it that day at that time.
