Question

• Assessment Description Families experience a variety of emotions when they learn that their child has an exceptional need. They can go through many phases from denial, to guilt, to advocate.

The diagnosis can have an effect on the entire family. Often changes have to be made and many families feel that they do not have the necessary resources to meet their child's needs. Early intervention can make a huge difference, and it is important for educators to be knowledgeable of available resources/services to support families. Imagine you are the special education coordinator in your school and you want to help families understand various exceptionalities and know what role stakeholders play in the process. You will address families who feel their child may have an exceptionality and those whose child has been diagnosed as having an exceptionality. Create a digital brochure of tips for families outlining helpful early intervention strategies as well as what role stakeholders play in the early intervention process for specific disabilities.
