Assignment Details Why is it so important to know what one thinks about truth? The idea of what truth is (or how to obtain truth) may vary from person to person. To further complicate the issue, there is much debate about what kinds of things can be true. For example, are theories, beliefs, and opinions things that can be true? This assignment will help you further explore these concepts. To illustrate with an example – the problem is not: Is it true that there is extraterrestrial life? The problem is: What does it mean to say that it is true that there is extraterrestrial life? Astrobiologists study the former problem; philosophers, the latter. (Dowden & Swartz, n.d.)
