Title: The App Causing Government Attention
Introduction and Thesis: United States Law makers are taking into consideration banning Tik Tok.
Tik Tok is the most popular app used nationwide. Studies show that the average person spends 95
minutes a day on Tik Tok, and they get a lot of useful information out of it, as well as a good laugh.
Tik Tok should not be banned because we should take better government security precautions, safer
subjects for people to watch, and make it an American based app, so these issues would not be a
problem.
Body Paragraph 1:
Taking better security precautions will allow the app not to be banned. Tik Tok is always tracking
your location and it can tell where you are at. With that being said, Tik Tok bases your for you page
off of your location and what you like. If the people that use the app turn their location off then
people from China that created the app will not be able to track you. Author Lauren Jackson stated
in her newsletter that "They know where we travel, who our friends are, and what we watch." (The
Morning Newsletter). They know all this information because we choose to let them in our settings
on the app, if we would just turn it off they wouldn't be able to obtain our IP address, much less
hack us. Jackson also states "One republic called it a "Spy balloon in your phone."" (The Morning
Newsletter). This is the absolute truth in this case because the Chinese government is watching
every move you take when you are using the app. If we just turn our location off, do not post as
much, then the security precautions will be at an absolute ease.
