ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

In this assignment, you will develop a polished resume that will evolve as you grow in your education and

experiences by using feedback from the OSU CEAT Career Services Career Coaches located in Engineering South.

This constantly evolving document will represent you as you pursue professional and educational opportunities.

First, create or revise your resume, a document that speaks to all of your pertinent experiences to date. Use

available resources to customize a resume that speaks about you and is suitable for applying for an internship

of interest to you. Target an internship with one of your "dream employers" or a company that you plan to visit

Use the following guidelines when creating/revising your resume:

1. Do NOT use the resume templates that are available in Word. This will get you 0 credit. The suggested

template is on page 3 of this document.

2. Your resume should only be one (1) page in length. You should only have 2 pages if you have extensive

experience that is relevant to the potential employer or position.

3. No typographical, spelling, or grammatical errors. No crossed out or hand-written information. Your

resume should be typed, printed, and professional.

4. Well-organized, concise, and easy to read. No dense text.

5. Your contact information should be current and include your name, address, phone number, and OSU

email address. Do not include your age, gender, marital status, religious affiliation, health, or other

personal information that is not relevant to the position.

6. Have a clear career objective in mind, i.e.: "An internship in Mechanical Engineering". Your resume

should support your objective. Avoid lofty, nebulous statements.

7. Content in your "Education" and "Experience" sections should be in reverse chronological order.

8. Use active verbs (past or present tense depending on if you are currently employed (present tense) or

your experience is in the past to describe your work history.

9. Focus first on content, then format.
