Question

Consider a uniform rod of mass 68 kg and total length 0.98 m. The rod is pinned by a bolt at its left end, and another bolt 0.056 m from

its left end, so that the rod is completely stationary. Each bolt exerts a force on the rod that is either straight up or down. Because of the way the bolts are arranged, one of the two bolts is going to be exerting a larger force on the beam than the other. Calculate the size of that force, in N. Use g = 10 m/s2.
