The patient is affected by diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and the hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state (HHS). DKA is an abnormal state characterized by a high level of ketone bodies in the blood caused by fat breakdown in the body, as a result of high glucose in the blood and low glucose inside the cell. HHS arises if a patient's glucose levels remain abnormally high for an extended period of time, resulting in severe dehydration. Acidic pH, High Glucose, and ketone levels explain the DKA condition, while, severe dehydration explains the high urea( Increased reabsorption by the kidney) and elevated plasma potassium (hyperkalemia).
