FOOD2201 Nutritional Issues in the Life Cycle ASSIGNMENT BRIEF Assignment School food report Plan and prepare a report describing the food choice of students attending a given secondary school. Using the resources provided (food choice data, menu cycle, and nutritional composition data), examine the nutritional composition of the population's food choice at lunchtime. In particular, you should calculate the ‘average school lunch' chosen. To do this: 1. STEP 1: determine the total energy and nutrients of all the foods chosen at lunchtime; 2. STEP 2: estimate the number of 'lunches' selected at lunchtime; 3. STEP 3: estimate the nutritional composition (energy and nutrient content) of the 'average school lunch' by dividing the total energy and nutrients of the foods chosen at lunchtime by the estimated number of students; 4. STEP 4: examine the nutritional composition of the 'average school lunch' chosen and consider how this compares to 'guidelines'. You will need to engage with the material provided for this assignment, as well as other material from the lectures, and associated resources. You will need to utilise knowledge gained in the module, and practise your skills in writing, research and data analysis to complete this analysis. Relevant information: The key is to decide on what information to include. Keep it simple. Report writing: Consider what sections to include and what to include in each section. Make it easy for the reader to understand the purpose of each section. Academic writing: Write in a clear and concise way. Do not go with your first draft; refine and improve what you have written.
