will be required. Use a preload soil consisting of sand with y = 125 pound per cubic foot (pcf). Compute the required time the preload must remain in place to mitigate settlement of the clay layer (90% of predicted) considering compatibility with the structure settlement. Do not include a correction in for preload construction time.
