wide range of people. This manufacturer has come to you for advice. The height of the seat is such that the hip is at 40 cm from the floor. The dashboard is 30 cm high, with the steering wheel positioned 10 cm in front of the dashboard. At driving the driver must be able to push the gas or break pedal. Therefore, these pedals have a horizontal travel of 10 cm. P1 is the position when a pedal is fully pushed and P2 is the position when the pedal is not pushed. Assume that the ankle is kept at 90° and the pedal surface is flush with the bottom of the shoe. The car manufacturer wants most female and male adults to be able to drive the car. Translated in ergonomic terms this means that the design must fit people in the range from 5 %ile female to 95 %ile male, using the anthropometrical data (USA civilians) in the textbook.
