Hello class
After watching both videos about implicit bias and microaggressions, it seems to me that humanity's benevolent indifference
to these conditions seems on par with our propensity to remedy awkward situations morally and respectfully. In other words,
a human's claim to greatness is learning to be humane.
Microaggressions are a fault that occurs when two or more parties seem to inadvertently communicate in a discomforting
manner. Misunderstanding and miscommunication are often the culprits of what is considered microaggressions. As in a
community of speakers and listeners, Albert Einstein sums it up best when he declares "Any fool can know. The point is to
understand."
Implicit bias is homegrown. One's implicit bias directly correlates with individuality, disposition, personality, mindset, feelings,
ego, and spirit. Unconscious attitudes toward a social group, such as stereotyping, are less controllable and sometimes
difficult for the perpetrator to understand. This sub-conscious predicament is a challenge for every human being to
comprehend and strive to do better in reducing the influence of implicit bias. At the same time, the realization by implicit
bias recipients that the situational humanness occurring during a conversation can help rectify any misinterpretation. No one
is perfect!
Good luck.
