Task 1- Solid Modeling MAE177 Final Project Model at least five connected parts from a product of your choice; connected means they are touching at least one other part that you have selected. Each of the five parts must be different (you cannot count the same part twice). You will need to use appropriate measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.) to obtain the geometry of each part; approximations may be used for geometry that is not easily measured. Create an assembly of the parts (this is why they needed to be touching). Requirement for Product Selection: The product you choose must have moving parts of some kind. This requirement is to ensure that sufficient complexity is involved in your parts. ***Pens and mechanical pencils are not allowed! Be creative with your product selection. ***You can choose a product that has more than 5 parts, but you only need to model the five connected parts. Note: You are not allowed to download any parts for the final project. You must create the geometry for all five components. Task 2- Assembly Drawings You will need to create two drawings of the assembly. The first drawing will need to show four views of the assembled parts (front, top, right, and an isometric). The second drawing will need to show an exploded view of the assembly, with each of the parts being labelled with an appropriate part name. Task 3- Part Drawings You will need to create drawings of two individual parts that you modeled. Each drawing should have at least four views of the part; front, top, right, and an isometric (additional views may be included if needed). The drawing also need complete dimensioning; meaning all part geometry is properly defined with dimensions. Note regarding part selection: The two parts selected for Task 3 must have sufficient complexity- you are not allowed to choose your simplest parts, and will be penalized if you do so. Project Submission Final Project Write-up Create a document that includes your name, person number, and a brief description of the product that you chose to model. You should also include appropriate pictures of the product to show where the five parts you selected are located; remember you are only selecting five parts, you do not have to model the entire product. Drawings In addition to the write-up, you will need to upload the four drawings; these should be exported as PDF files before uploading (the write-up and drawings can be uploaded as separate files).
