Top of Form after availability ends. Bottom of Form Step 1: For this discussion, answer each of the following questions (please number them in your post): Your task is to find an everyday source that illustrates a specific social psychological concept from this chapter. You can use news articles, editorials, advertisements, advice columns, photographs, cartoons, book excerpts, poems and song lyrics, etc. I do NOT want academic journal articles! 1. Copy and paste your source (the news article, the picture, the song lyrics, the ad, etc etc) at the beginning of your post. (-10 points if not directly in your post) 2. Type the reference in APA format for your source. 3. Explain what specific topic from Chapter 8 your source is related to and how, i.e., This source shows "blank concept" because "your explanation." Your explanations should be complete, clear, concise and thorough, and supported by cited information from the text. (You cite in-text using the textbook when you define the concept you are using - but do not copy word for word!) NOTE: You can not use a source that is showing behavior in animals (i.e., chimps learning language, or mating rituals in peacocks). Social Psychology is about humans and, although we can draw analogies to animals, I would like you to apply these concepts to people. You may, however, use cartoons that are displaying animals “as if” they are humans (i.e., The Backyardigans are hippos, but act like human children.) *You also cannot use a source already used by another student, so look at other posts first! Some websites are NOT acceptable: for example - Any site that is “teaching” the concept (describing what a concept is, etc) - Wiki or wikipedia - Answers.com or Yahoo Answers - About.com Step 2: 4. Reply to at least one classmate's post by either explaining another concept from Chapter 8 that can be applied to their source, OR posting another everyday source that you find that also is an example of the concept they presented with an explanation. **Be sure to review the Instructions for All discussion boards. You must meet all of those requirements for this discussion, including minimum word count, replies to classmates, and citations with references.
