Proclamation against the Maintenance of Pirates In the
Columbus document, try to determine which of
Columbus's observations might be considered "fact" -
that is, something that might be verified using another
source or sources of information. Explain how you might
go about con ning any of these facts. [Please note that
your answer cannot be "I'd look on the Internet." Think
about other ways of verifying information.]
In the case of Queen Elizabeth's proclamation, decide
what this official document can tell us about the
historical realities of piracy in Elizabeth's time. That is,
what can be learned from just reading the document.
