Water is supplied from a large water tower and 40 ft tall standpipe. The pipe leading from the standpipe is 460 feet long. The surface height difference between the vessels

is 70 feet. Both pipes are 5 inches in diameter and are made of cast iron. The system also includes a 90° standard elbow at the base of the standpipe and a wide open globe valve at the end of the pipe leading to the other large open vessel. Calculate the total pressure drop in the piping (in psi). Do not neglect entrance and exit effects.
