Weigh Phone with Cable Hide Assignment Information Instructions See instructions for a short set of slides (individual assignment) describing the experiment to weigh the phone using (a) graphical statics and (b) method of joints. While the assignment is individual, each member of the group will complete their assignment using the same experimental data Please refer to the two sample submissions by students included in Lecture W4_Method of Joints_Experiment, slides 8-13 and 14-18 ME432_2024 Assignment2a: Method of Joints/Force Polygon: Weigh Phone Assignment Instructions Although the experiment was conducted in groups, this assignment is submitted individually. Weigh a mobile phone (including the bag, string & hook). You have already followed the experimental procedure illustrated in lecture: Week4 Method of Joints_Experiment.ppx Submit as 5 (or 6) slides with the following content: Title Slide 1: Week 4: Weigh Phone using: a) Graphical Statics , b) Method of joints , c) Weighing Scale Group no: XY Group member: CosgroveTom_12345678 Slide 2: Photo of string Geometry clearly marked as pencil lines on the A1 sheet. Note the known mass and show the 2 force polygons (triangles) with vector lengths clearly marked in units of grams. Slide 3: Show calculation of string slope angles from the vector polygons using the cosine rule. The sine rule can be used if preferred once the first angle has been computed. Slide 4: Apply the method of joints as shown on slide 7 of Week 4 lecture. Slide 5: Suggest reasons for any discrepancies between the three results. If needed, you may use a sketch to clarify your explanation. If you have a photo of the experiment with the weights hanging, please include that after slide 1.
