Question

1. An air-standard new lawn mower Otto cycle gasoline engine at the beginning of the compression

process has 100 kPa, 27 °C, and 450 cm³. The maximum temperature in the cycle is 727 °C. The

isentropic compression ratio is 10:1. Sketch the p-v and T-s diagrams. Using a cold-air standard analysis,

determine (i) the pressure and temperature at the end of each process, (ii) the heat addition and

rejection, (iii) the net work produced, (iv) the Thermal efficiency and (v) Mean effective pressure.
