1. Campbell's Soup recently surveyed 300 adults about their opinion of the new label on the

cans of soup. Until just recently they had used the label designed by Andy Warhol. The

results of their survey revealed that 210 out of the 300 adults liked the new soup label.

(a) What is the point estimate of the population proportion?

(b) Construct an 85% confidence interval for the percentage of adults who like the new

soup label. Include a statement.

(c) Campbell's Soup has recently started selling several new flavours of Chunky soup.

They want to know if the percentage of adults, who eat Campbell's Chunky soup on a

regular basis (at least once a week), has increased since the launch of the new flavours.

They want the estimate of the percent to be correct to within 4%, 18 times out of 20.

How many adults will need to be surveyed if they believe that the true percentage is

anywhere from 5% to 20% ?
