Community Nutrition Enhancement Grant
Request for Application (RFA)
Purpose
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support
innovative programming that advances community
health, increases access to nutrition assistance and
education, and/or reduces food insecurity.
The funding opportunity supports community nutrition
programs to:
expand program reach;
enhance existing programming or services;
purchase vital equipment;
conduct training, needs assessment or
research; or
implement a new program component.
Prior approval of grant topic from grantee (professor
Shilts) is required, by submitting a letter of intent (LOI)
with a 100 word summary of your project proposal (pre
proposal-synopsis of the proposal including
identification of the problem, proposed solution
(objectives/methods) and tentative amount funding
requested). Projects should be relevant to your field

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Eligible applicant organizations include academic
institutions, public entities and private nonprofit
organizations, and state and local government agencies.
Preference will be given to proposals that integrate
relevant collaborations and budget request amounts are
consistent with the project scope and outcomes.
Key Dates
3/29 (8pm) Deadline to submit project topic for approval
(Letter of Intent-LOI).
• 4/3 Applicants notified if modifications are needed to the
project topic.
• 4/21 (8pm) Deadline for receipt of full proposal.
Total Awards
25 awards are available through this funding
opportunity, totaling $600,000. It is expected that
awards will range from $5,000 to $25,000 each.
Grant periods are flexible, though generally range
from 6 months to 2 years
