It is due Sunday of Week 05 by 11:59pm Project Context 133 fooz 0091 Work on the design and construction drawings for a low-rise commercial building or buildings is an example of the typical work of an architectural technologist employed in an architectural office. This project will introduce you to the design and construction documentation for a steel frame building with a range of possibilities for exterior wall construction. During the first part of the project, you will prepare a set of presentation drawings of the commercial building, for approval by the client. During the second part of the project, you will use these design drawings as the basis for the construction drawings. Instructions Your client is a small real estate development company that develops small, low-rise commercial projects in the Greater Toronto Area. The client has selected a site in the eastern part of Toronto, along Kingston Road. Your project will consist of two, three, or four buildings. On the ground floor, the overall development will include a number of leasable units for retail stores and personal service shops, and two restaurants. Two of the buildings will be two storeys and will have leasable office space on the second floor. The office space will be suitable for small businesses or professionals such as dentists or accountants. Due to the building's height and gross floor area, Part 3 and other parts of the Ontario Building Code will govern design and construction. Your task is to design these commercial buildings based upon the area and space requirements provided, recognizing the opportunities and constraints of the site, the proposed zoning (assuming a successful application for rezoning), the city's Official Plan, and the Toronto Green Standard and Toronto Green Roof By-Law. Sustainable Design Requirements The proposed development must achieve a minimum of Tier 1 under the Toronto Green Standard. It will be necessary to incorporate sustainable design and construction features in this building in order to reduce energy consumption and operating costs, minimize the building's impact on the environment, provide a healthy environment for occupants and visitors, and serve as a model for future development in the area. The following are some of the aspects of sustainable design which this project must address: • Resource efficiency: Passive solar design; high performance building envelope • Site design to maximize permeability Stormwater runoff rates and stormwater quality https://e.centennialcollege.ca/d2l/le/content/1077099/viewContent/13599279/View 1/3 2/23/2024 • Assignment 03: Schematic Design - 24W --Design & CAD Project 3 (SEC. 701) Green roof, as required by the Toronto Green Roof By-Law Scenario #1: Two buildings Building A (approx. 6 retail units + 1 restaurant + office space on 2nd floor) Building B (approx. 6 retail units + 1 restaurant + office space on 2nd floor) Scenario #2: Three buildings Building A (approx. 6 retail units + office space on 2nd floor) Building B (1 restaurant) Building C (approx. 6 retail units + 1 restaurant + office space on 2nd floor) Scenario #3: Four buildings Building A (approx. 6 retail units + office space on 2nd floor) Building B (1 restaurant) Building C (approx. 6 retail units + office space on 2nd floor) Building D (1 restaurant) Space Requirements: All areas indicated are approximate. 1st Floor Leasable Retail/Personal Service Space - Total of 12 units in the project, divided between 2, 3, or 4 buildings Typical retail unit sizes range from approx. 6m x 18m (based on a column grid of 6m by 6m, or 6m x 18m overall), 7m x 18m, 7m x 20m, to 7m x 24m. (Some units may be smaller than typical due to location of Exit Stair #2.) Each unit will include an entrance vestibule, one Universal washroom & a BoH Storage. Two Restaurants: Each restaurant: 300 to 400 sq.m. The restaurants may be attached to buildings containing retail/personal services shops, or they may be in separate buildings, or both. Each restaurant will include: Entrance vestibule, Dining Area; Kitchen and related functions; Washrooms (Men's, Women's, and Universal Washroom (7.3 sq.m.)); and outdoor patio (this could be also a roof-top patio or both). If a restaurant is in a separate building, it should also have a garbage/recycling room. 1st Floor Office Entrance (Related to 2nd Floor office space), including: Entrance Vestibule & Lobby 1 Elevator Stair #1 Stair #2 Garbage/Recycling Room 2nd Floor 1 Elevator Sq. m. Site Plan could be in CAD at this stage but would be much better to insert the base CAD file in REVIT to develop detail lines. The Site Plan should be True North - Scale 1:500. Draw your Site Plan in REVIT on your Site View using annotation tab: Detail Lines, Filled Region, DIMs, Text, etc. ⚫ Schematic Ground Floor Plan and Second Floor Plan, showing column gridlines, walls, and gross floor area of each portion of the building. Both floor plans will be at 1:100 Scale - Project North. . A few 3D Camera Views to represent your Schematic sustainable and aesthetic considerations. • Submit: REVIT and a single combined PDF files. The expert needs to complete the schematic design first in order to begin doing the design development portion of the project. The expert does not need to complete the design development fully but rather finish 50% of the design as instructed in the instructions sheet. This is a 2 part assignment that requires a schematic design and 50% of the design development of the project. The expert needs to complete the schematic design first in order to begin doing the design development portion of the project. The expert does not need to complete the design development fully but rather finish 50% of the design as instructed in the instructions sheet. The schematic design requires a revit file, 4 sheets (site plan, first floor, 2nd floor plan, 3D) These tow files compile the design development portion of the assignment The assignments essentially build off one another, you wont be able to do the design development portion, without doing the schematic design portion also the software is Revit 2 design in total if u want to combine the assignments into one, but its not 2 sperate design, its one design and you build off of it/n PART 1. The schematic design must be completed in order to get a grade to assess the design dev elopement of the project therefore it is crucial that multiple files be added. Look at the file names 66 'Assignment 03-Schematic Design” and “Assignment 03-Schematic Design 1" for the instructions on how to complete Part I of the assignment. Schematic design requires the following listed below developed in revit: - Site plan - first floor plan - second floor plan - 3D I also require 4 sheet views of each of the listed above in revit (Ex, sheet view for the site plan, first floor plan, second floor plan, and 3D). Up to this point when you have completed these steps please save the file name as “Schematic design". I have attached a sample under the file name “Part 1 - Schematic Design- Student Sample.rte" that shows you exactly what the schematic design format and overall what this portion of the project should look like. This is a sample, thus please dont copy this the design must be original. ***IMPORTANT NOTE: This part 1 portion of the project is crucial because it lays the foundation for part 2 of the project; as per the professors instructions, part 2 will NOT be assessed or graded if Part I is not complete.*** PART 2. Using the schematic design, you must not enter the development phase of the project. Part 2 of this project requires you to prepare design development dragons for the two-story building schematic design proposal completed in Part I. Look at the file names “Assignment 04- Design Development” and “Assignment-04- Design Development - Part I 50% od DD". The design development of the building requires you to prepare on Revit: -site plan - Ground floor plan - Second floor plan - Building elevations - Building sections - 3D views, using revit. *Please ensure that you include plumbing fixtures on the floor plans, and calculates of the plumbing fixtures in your site plan statistics* When you have completed part 2 of the assignment, please save the Revit file name as “Design Development 50%”. Ive also attached two files called “news.pdf" and "Wall Assembly Hand Sketch Presentation.pdf”, these are supplementary files that will help you compete the assignment. By the end of this assignment I required 2 Revit files, one Revit file for part 1 saved under the name "Schematic Design" and another Revit file for part 2 saved under the name "Design Development 50%”.
