Question

2. An annular fuel pellet has an inner and outer diameter equal to 0.99 cm and 1.41 cm,

respectively. Both surface temperatures are 700°C and q' = 40 kW/m. Start from the

governing differential equation and derive the temperature profile across the fuel element.

Determine (a) the maximum fuel temperature and (b) the heat fluxes on both inner and

outer surfaces. Use a constant thermal conductivity value of 3 W/m.K.
