Question

2.

It is required to remove 5 mm (DOC) from the surface of a slab of miled steel

with 340 mm long by 100 mm wide using a helical tooth plain milling cutter

having 90 mm diameter, and 4 teeth. The cutting speed and feed are 20 m/min

and 0.3 mm/tooth respectively. Calculate the machining time. 3. Calculate the number of revolution of the index crank to machine a square

head of a bolt. 4. It is require to machine a gear with 48 teeth using the simple indexing of the

milling machine with the following holes on the index plate : 15, 16, 17, 18,

19 and 20 holes. Calculate the number of turns of the index crank. 5. For each division the crank should turn 15 holes on the 18 holes index circle

on the index plate.

I 6. Calculate the number of turns of the index crank to machine a bolt with

hexagonal head, given that: the available index plate has 17, 19, 22, 24 and 28

holes.
