3. A jet of incompressible fluid strikes a vane that moves to the right at constant velocity on a frictionless cart shown in Figure 1. The jet is deflected by a deflector such that the area of the jet remains constant. Gravity acts vertically downwards. Show all steps, justify any additional assumptions, clearly state any conservation laws used and/or any mathematical relations required to compute: (a) The force F required such that the cart does not accelerate, but moves with the constant speed of Ve. What is this force if Vc = 0? (b) The power P delivered to the cart in the above situation when the cart moves at constant speed Ve.
