Examples include creating a culture that attracts great talent, developing niche markets, targeting their ideal customer, capitalizing on company strengths (processes, technology, expertise, etc.), resolving company/competitive weaknesses, offering a unique value proposition (low price, service, quality, brand), and rewarding behaviors that support corporate mission and value (through incentives or rewards).
