Question

3. How would the weight of a person affect your prediction of BAC based on the number of beers?

In order to answer the question, create a new variable RATIO, which is defined as the ratio of BEERS to WEIGHT.

(a) Make a scatterplot of BAC versus RATIO with different plotting symbols for males and

females. Paste the plot into your report. Describe the overall pattern of the relationship for

each gender. Compare the plot with the one obtained in Question 1. Is the beer-to weight

ratio a better predictor of BAC than BEERS? Explain.

(b) Regress BAC on RATIO for each gender. Report the proportion of variation in BAC that is

explained by its linear regression on RATIO for each gender. Compare the proportions with

the values obtained in Question 2. Comment.
