Question
3) In class, we derived the transmission coefficient for a rectangular barrier with height V. and width a to be, 1 T=- 1+ 4E(V-E) ysinh(ka) Now I change the potential barrier by simultaneously shrinking the width 'a' to zero and increasing Vo to +co in such a way that I keep the product Voa = U, a constant. In the limit the barrier becomes a delta function. Estimate the transmission coefficient for a delta function potential barrier. (hint: you will have to consider the limit of the transmission coefficient given above, by invoking the condition Va = U).
