Question

5. (6 points) Assume the circuit shown here has been

operating for a very long time with

Vin(t) = (10 V)sin(2 60Hz t), C = 1 µF, and using a

constant-voltage model with a forward Von = 0.7 V for

D1 and D2 and a Zener voltage of 4.9 V for D2. [DO

voltage, (b) the maximum output voltage, (c) the

minimum voltage across the capacitor, and (d) the

maximum voltage across the capacitor?

6. (10 points) Design and clearly draw a circuit using one capacitor, one constant-voltage

silicon diode with Von = 0.7 V, and one Zener diode so that the output swings between

approximately -15 V and +5 V if the input voltage is Vin(t) = (10 V)sin(2x 1 kHz t). Your

ideal Zener diode must have a nominal Zener voltage that is available for a conventional

Zener diode in stock at mouser.com, digikey.com, or arrow.com. [DO NOT POST OR

junction depletion capacitance of each diode is no more than CjD,max = 10 nF and the

amplitude of the output should be at least 99% of the input amplitude. (Don't use the

specified junction capacitance of the actual Zener diode you find to make the grading of the

problem easier.) Clearly label any important component values on the circuit drawing as

well as the manufacturer and part number of the Zener diode.
