Question

"A Bar at the Folies-Bergére" (below) is one of Eduard Manet's most famous paintings. Part of its appeal is the contrast between the audience who are ready to be entertained and the exhausted bartender whose eyes show her fatigue. Another reason for its appeal is its distortion of reality. Can you find at least two distortions of reality? Who do you think the man with a hat and a mustache shown on the right-hand side of the painting represents? Enjoy!
