Part 1 - Multigenre Research Paper: Reflect on what you read and learned about

multigenre papers/projects and the notion of writing about a topic in several different

genres from the article "Multigenre Research: The Power of Choice and Interpretation"

and from viewing at least the first 25 minutes of the Teaching Multigenre Writing

video.

Share thoughts and ideas about how you might incorporate multigenre

papers/projects into your writing instruction as well as questions or wonderings about

multigenre writing.

Please note: For your multigenre project for our course you will not select a topic and

conduct extensive research; rather, select a topic for your multigenre project that is about

an aspect of your life and is important to you on a personal level.

It's possible that if/when you plan and facilitate multigenre projects with students that you

will absolutely have them select a topic to research and inquiry about; however, that is not

the purpose for the multigenre project you create for our course. Depending on the topic

you select, you might need to conduct some outside research, but you need to choose a

personal topic that is about an aspect of your life.

Part II - Multigenre Papers/Projects Genre Study/Mentor Texts:

• What mentor texts did you read? (Be sure to read at least three of the examples from the Multigenre Project Introduction tab. Read at least one

from either the Multigenre Research Paper category or the Multigenre Field Experience category on Tom Romano's website and at least two

exemplars from previous students.)

• What genres are included in the project? What craft choices or "moves" do you notice the authors making in this genre?

• How does the author guide you, as the reader, through each piece? In other words, how are the genres connected? (Table of contents,

transitions between genres, etc.)

• How might reading the mentor texts provide a vision for your writing?

• Share one or more topics you're considering for your multigenre project.
