Analyze and assess the population profile for a selected life stage and propose an intervention to address a selected health issue using a selected Health and Social Behaviour Theory /Model for a Caribbean country

1. I have chosen scenario 1 1. The health impacts, in this case, is on the father and the indifferent behavior of the son. If the father takes treatment to control his alcoholism, it would be helpful to the family and change the perception of the son. The alcoholic behavior is impacting the indifferent nature of the son. The possible health impact on the father is a failure of the lungs and it is also impacting the emotional state of the son as he is growing restless. One way to approach this is to seek professional help by taking family counseling. 2. The health-related behavior is different. The behavior of the father is creating consequences for the son. The action that I would propose is that the father is taken to the rehabilitation center for treatment and recovery. 3. The policies can state and help the son to stay away from their parents who are having alcoholic issues. Because it might encourage the son to be a drunkard himself. Community-based policies can be initiated so that the children are also taken care and it will also help them to change their perception. 4. Health promotion can be used to create awareness among all individuals as they do not only affect an individual but also the entire family. 5. The health belief model that guides health and disease prevention programs. This can be used to explain and predict changes in health behavior. It can also discuss the belief of the consequence, potential positive benefits and barriers in the action, and the exposure to the required action (The Health Belief Model - Rural Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Toolkit, 2018). 2. In this case, the scenario considered is the second case 1. The health impacts can be addressed only with the intervention of the medical profession and by listening to the advice that is provided by him. 2. Mr. Peters should not decide what he wants, just reaching the hospital for painkillers. I would strongly propose taking the medications as suggested by the doctor rather than having an opinion on the case. If this action is taken by him, it would help him. 3. The policies can be strict intervention from the government in procuring the medications. As there are a few countries that do not have strict regulations and so people can obtain the medication based on their wishes. If the policies are strict they would be able to get better medications and it can further impact better health of the individuals. 4. In this health promotion can be used and they can promote how one should not justify and decide about the health issues they have and should consult the medical intervention to clarify it. This method is chosen as not all will do the same, so health promotion can be used. 5. The theory of planned behavior talks about the three core components which are attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavior control and they all decide the intention of the individual. In this case, the planned behavior involves the attitude that Peter has that he can handle any situation. As a result, the perceived behavior is that he thinks that he gets to decide which medications to take and which ones to ignore. The intention is that he thinks his diabetes is under control and they don’t need much attention. 3. In this case, I have taken the second scenario. 1. The health impacts have to be tackled and have been investigated from the early stages. The events clearly depict that Mr. Roberts and Mrs. Roberts have never taken a doctor's visit and are constantly ignoring the complications. 2. The best solution is to have a thorough body check-up as the medical complications are increasing every day. If the check-up is done, the couple will know the exact condition of their body. 3. The policy would be initiating a mandatory medical check-up for all citizens every year. This would also give the state and medical condition of the individuals. As the children are dependent on them, taking medical conditions is crucial as that stop unnecessary complications in the future. 4. The transtheoretical model tries to understand the six stages that are there in change. It starts from precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination(Prochaska & Velicer, 1997). In this case, study, if the couple understands the issue using the precontemplation process. The upcoming stages would be prepared to address the issue that involves the action, maintaining the actions involved and it will further have termination from the medical treatment as they are fully cured.
