As you know, the number of fatalities between police and unarmed citizens continues to rise. As this continues to happen, police departments are having to find ways to manage such crises-which

is exactly what you will be exploring in this activity./nStep 1: Research & Brainstorm While there are a variety of ways that we can identify and plan solutions for situations that require crisis management and conflict resolution, for this activity you will be creating a crisis management plan for a police department. Start by thinking about what types of situations would arise for a police department as a whole once one of its own kills an unarmed citizen. Explore online, take notes, make some brainstorming webs-whatever helps to get your creative juices flowing. Once you have a loose idea for your plan, it will be time to flesh that idea out and put it into "plan form."/nStep 2: Create Your Plan Now that you have an idea and some notes/brainstorms figured out for your product, you will present your product in a tangible way-this can be a slide presentation, a word processing document, or a video. Whatever medium you choose, the following requirements must be met: Provide information on things a police department should be planning for before a police- involved death of an unarmed suspect ever occurs Develop a section of the plan that determines what will happen if this crisis expands into another (e.g., fires, riots) Include at least five steps a department could take to rebuild trust and make sure that this never happens again If you choose to make a slide presentation or word document, please also include visuals like images, drawings, or graphics to help convey your vision. If you choose to make a video, please make sure that you speak slowly and clearly and include any possible visual aids to ensure that your vision is clearly expressed to the audience. Please include a list of websites or resources used in your research. Make sure to save your presentation/document in a place on your computer where you can access it later.
