Detailed Brief for Individual / Team Assignment
Assignment Title:
Individual Reflective Report and Personal Development Plan. Note this is not the same as the original
and slightly differs.
Extensions: Students do not have an automatic right to an extension. If you require an extension,
this must be requested in advance of the submission deadline. Please give your reason(s) for
needing an extension. Not all Assessments are eligible for an extension. Please check above.
Purpose of the assignment
This assignment is designed to help you with the understanding of what went well during the module and
to highlight areas of development to move into Semester B. By reflecting on your skills, knowledge and
behaviour from this module it will aid you in identifying your own strengths and weaknesses in those
skill areas and in turn help to create a plan of action to develop and achieve better grades for the future.
Description of the assignment:
Using Gibbs' (1988) Seven Steps for Deeper Reflection Model write a reflective report of maximum
1200 words in which you reflect on your learning during your first semester A – September through to
December 2023. This will include not only your learnings gained during the Business Professional
Module but also how these learnings apply to other modules you have studied over the course of the
Semester.
Description of the assignment, task, content and structure:
In your reflections you should include the following:
1. A brief review of your study skills at the beginning of the module and the reflection theory you
will apply
2. You're reading during the module, to include 6 academic references. (a range of sources should
be used) These should be referenced correctly in line with the Harvard Referencing Guide.
3. How your study skills have developed during the module (based on the units of study for this
module) including strengths and areas for development (using a SWOT analysis matrix) and
how these apply to other modules over the course of the Semester. Your reflections should
include 4 different skills (one of these should be your learnings from your personal assessment
of your digital skills and the group collaboration work and at least one skill from your AEB work
and study with Cem Kaya). See weekly units on Canvas. The SWOT is incorporated in the
PDP
Choose 4 x different skills from the following units of study Business Professional Units of study -

● Self-Management - The responsible student
Self-Management – Transformative learning and reflection
● Information Skills - Harvard Referencing (Cite them Right)

Academic skills - academic writing and writing critically (this could be a reflection on your
work with Cem Kaya)
Employability - Preparing for the workplace (includes Digital capability and working

collaboratively)
4. How you plan to develop these skills further and what activities and support will you undertake to
achieve them (this will be supported and evidenced in your Personal Development Plan).
5. Your report conclusion should inform your Personal Development Plan for Semester B (PDP).
This should be presented using the SWOT & PDP
6. To support your referral submission we would like to know how you have used the marker
feedback from your previous submission to make improvements OR how you have used the
skills from the Business Professional during semester B (this should be supported with an
example). This should be no more than 100 words.
Submission
Students to upload the following to Canvas:
Reflective Report and PDP (including your self assessment at the start of the module)
You may want to upload any Student Unit activity logs or learning journals to support your
reflections (your choice). These should be presented in an appendix. See within each Unit of
study the student activity task or complete your own learning journal for that unit of study.

count)
2.0. Discuss the skills you have developed (we would like to know about at least 4 skills you
have developed) - Identify the skill you have developed - how does this apply to at least 1 module
you have been studying this Semester. Incorporate relevant reflective theory and provide
examples of how you have developed in the skill, how you have applied your learning and what
would you do differently moving into Semester B are there any gaps in your learning? What
interventions/changes would you make? Follow this structure for at least 4 skills you have
developed in (approx. 250 words for each of the skills discussed)
3.0. Conclusion - What are your key learnings I.e. your key skills you have developed and how

Academic Integrity, Plagiarism, Essay Mills and other Academic Misconduct Offences
You are NOT allowed to copy any information into your assignment without using quotation marks and a
reference - this is ‘plagiarism' (a type of academic misconduct).
You are NOT allowed to copy from other students (or allow other students to copy from you) - this is
'collusion'.
You are NOT allowed to copy from your own assignments on other modules - this is ‘self-plagiarism'.
● You must NEVER buy assignments from websites (essay mills) - this is called 'contract cheating' and it is
now illegal in the UK.
Contract cheating is a serious academic misconduct offence and also includes arranging for help with an
assessment such that there is also reasonable doubt as to whose work the assessment represents. It
extends to input from a fellow student, friend, relative, or any other person, with or without payment of
any kind.
Unauthorised use of artificial intelligence (Al) is not allowed and will be treated as academic misconduct.
If you commit academic misconduct, your mark will be reduced, or, depending on the severity of the
offence you may get 0% for the assignment in question or 0% for the module, and get a disciplinary
warning. Repeat offenders normally face disciplinary action.
Contact academic-skills@herts.ac.uk if you are unsure of the rules or how to avoid academic misconduct, and
you will receive help. Please see the UPRS relating to Academic misconduct here.
