Assignment Information 5/18/24, 9:08 PM GRA 350 Project One Milestone Guidelines and Rubric Overview When designing a multi-page publication, you need to consider how the content will be organized across the pages. For example, some pages might contain only text, some may contain only images, while others may need a mix of text and images. You will need to select and create different types of grid structures for each page of the publication. When selecting the grid structure, you should also consider some composition techniques you will use for the final design, such as balance, space, and alignment. Scenario You are a freelance graphic designer. A local museum is curating the collections of various artists for their upcoming seasonal exhibits. Currently, the museum has curated three new unique collections that vary in style, aesthetic, and artistry. The museum has approached you to create a catalog showcasing one of these collections. The catalog will be text-heavy due to each collection's descriptions and artist statements. In addition, this catalog will be available in digital format. Previously, the museum sent out an email newsletter to inform patrons of the exhibits they were hosting and a printed brochure that was only available at the museum. Developing a digital catalog is part of their new, long-term marketing approach. For the purposes of this project, you will select one collection to create a catalog for. You have been provided with a collection summaries document that includes the names of the collections, the artists, individual descriptions of the artwork, all required copy to include in your catalog, and various design specifications. You have also been provided with high-resolution images of the artwork to include in the catalog. Your job is to propose a multi-page catalog for your selected collection. You will also document your design rationale in the design rationale template. For this milestone, you will begin designing the pages for the catalog by creating the grid structures for each page in an InDesign document. In Project One, you will use this document to organize and design the content for the catalog using different composition techniques. Directions Use Adobe InDesign and the Project One Design Rationale Template to complete the following: 1. Create a grid structure for each section of the catalog. A. Use Adobe InDesign to complete this step. B. Include the following sections: i. Cover Page (1 page) ii. Table of Contents (1-2 pages) iii. Introduction to Artist (1-2 pages) iv. Artwork (5-9 pages) 2. Explain why the selected grid structures meet design needs. A. Use the design rationale template to complete this step. B. How do the selected grid structures benefit the catalog and its readers? Explain. 3. Explain how the selected grid structures enhance visual hierarchy. A. Use the design rationale template to complete this step. B. Why is it important to follow the guidelines when using a grid system? Explain. 4. Explain how different composition techniques were considered when creating the grid structures. A. Use the design rationale template to complete this step. What to Submit Museum Catalog This is an Adobe InDesign (.ind) file. Your 8- to 12-page grid structure for your catalog should be packaged and compressed into a ZIP file for submission. Sources should be cited according to MLA style. Design Rationale This is a Word Document (.docx). You will submit the Project One Design Rationale Template with Part One completed. Sources should be cited according to MLA style. https://learn.snhu.edu/content/enforced/1611302-GRA-350-13478.20... tone%20Guidelines%20and%20Rubric.html?ou=1611302&d21_body_type=3 Page 1 of 2 Assignment Information 5/18/24, 9:08 PM Supporting Materials The following resources support your work in this activity: Collection Summaries These are Word Documents (.docx) that include the names of the collections, artist descriptions, all required copy to be included in your catalog, and various design specifications. Museum Collection Images ZIP File: This is a ZIP file (.zip) that contains all the artwork in the collections with individual descriptions.
