ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose one of the following subjects and provide a 1200-1500-word compare

and contrast essay referring to two works.

Double spaced, MLA format.

It must include an original title, introduction, thesis statement, body

paragraphs that support your thesis with evidence from the text

(quotations), a conclusion, and a works cited page.

Your essay must be written in formal style, avoiding slang, clichés, and

other colloquial language.

Compare and contrast Hermione in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

to Eilonwy in The Book of Three. Neither girl is the main hero of her

respective book, but their efforts are central to the successful outcome

of the stories' quest. Look at the similarities and differences in how

they are portrayed. Are one girl's contributions more important than the

other's? What is the significance of their roles in their respective

stories?
