Question

Based on the reading, "Medical and Social Models of Disability," consider

whether and to what degree you or someone close to you might have become

"disabled," not as a result of a disease itself, but because of social and/or

physical barriers they encountered. Do you or a loved one have

medical/physical/mental health concerns that limit your ability to engage in

your daily activities? Consider the different scenarios presented in the

essay, and describe a similar scenario that you or a loved one has

experienced. How has this essay changed your views about what it means to be

disabled?

Write from your personal experience, beliefs and values. You also need to

provide enough material from the reading that your classmates can understand

its points. You may include sources that have influenced you, but you do not

need to do additional research to comment. You do not have to reveal personal

information; the person(s) you are referring to can be anonymous in nature.
