French social psychologist Gustave Le Bon was well-known for his research into the psychological characteristics of groups (Encyclopedia Brittanica, 2020). Le Bon thought that crowded gatherings were a larger part of modern life. In his most well-known work, he claimed that a person's conscious personality is absorbed when in a crowd under the direction of the collective crowd's mentality. Le Bon developed the idea that groups are not the sum of their parts, positing that there is another mental material that is structured inside groups, the characteristics of which are governed by the "racial unconscious" of the group (Le Bon, 1996). Le Bon argued that a collection of people who are mathematically sound is insufficient to constitute a group. He stressed that the term "crowd" refers to a grouping of individuals regardless of their identification, job, sex, or commonality (Le Bon, 1996). However, from a psychological standpoint, the "crowd" who uses the expression accepts some incredibly amazing connotations. Under specific circumstances, a group of individuals exhibits novel characteristics that are entirely different from those who use the expression “IL” (Le Bon, 1996).
