CE418 Winter 2024 Purpose Existing Conditions and Proposed Site Plan (Group Assignment) The purpose of a site plan is to show the current and planned conditions of the project site. Existing conditions include any element of the existing site that is of interest to contractors, such as topography, utilities, and structures. All proposed infrastructure is shown on the proposed site plan, including items such as buildings, pavement, and drainage. Assignment Requirements Create a set with your general drawings (previous assignment), existing conditions, and proposed site plan drawings for your project. You may include existing conditions and proposed site on separate drawing sheets or both on one sheet. The choice depends on what is most appropriate for the project. Review of the example project drawings may be helpful for this decision. Be sure to update your sheet index (with issue log), symbols, abbreviations, general project notes, etc. as needed. The contents of the drawings will vary depending on the type of project. The following list includes some common elements in site plans. You must include all appropriate elements from this list and any other elements necessary to provide a complete picture of the existing and proposed site: Topographical information (approximately 1-foot intervals preferred) • • Property lines • • Locations and dimensions of easements, road right-of ways, driveways Locations of all utilities and connections (storm and sanitary sewers, water, gas, etc. including size of service and street location) Rim elevations, invert elevations in and out of manholes (sanitary and storm) and catch basins and pipe sizes All proposed improvements (including stormwater improvements) Locations and/or distances for all proposed infrastructure using either N and E coordinates or distances from property lines Basic landscape plans Legend and notes Graphic scale bar and written scale, North arrow If you do not know the exact location of something, then provide an estimate on the drawing, e.g. “4 feet (estimated)." You will likely not know the size and location of all stormwater improvements, for example, but you must include your best guesses for the sizes and locations of these facilities. Submission Instructions This is a group assignment. Submit drawing(s) as DWG and PDF files through Canvas. Name files as shown: GroupNumber_AssignmentName Example: GroupZ1_Existing ProposedSitePlans Grading for this assignment will again be based primarily on completeness, clarity, and consistent formatting across drawing sheets. Be sure to reference your feedback on your group's General Drawings assignment, the AutoCAD ANSI Standards Guide, and other resources as needed in 'Files' → 'References' → 'ACAD Tutorials, Symbols and Template' on Canvas.
