Purpose
This assignment will help you learn to propose strategies that improve organizational sustainability using
health information data.
Synopsis
For this assignment, you will begin work on Prospectus Chapter 3 and discuss methodologies for solving
the problem/question that you have identified. This assignment is not a rigorous or true-to-form research
methodology section. Nevertheless, it simulates the thought process of synthesizing what you have
learned in your background and literature review to target a specific source for data collection in an effort
to answer a research question or uncover information about a research statement.
Drawing on the reading assignments in this course, propose at least three strategies around information
governance, data analysis, strategies for organizational sustainability, or data visualization methods to
research and integrate with your dissertation problem or topic.
As Roberts (2010) points out, the "methodology selection rests primarily on the (1) problem to be
investigated, (2) purpose of the study, (3) theory base, and (4) nature of the data." Your choice of
methodology must be supported through your review of the literature and be appropriate to tackle the
problem you identified.

Prepare
Reflect on your previous work in this course and be ready to provide a brief update and overview of your
completed work. This will serve as your rationale for the method chosen to collect more data on your
1/5 problem beyond the literature review.
Research
Using the textbook, course resources, and library databases, become familiar with research methods
(methodologies) or techniques that you can access to gather more information on the specific problem or
topic.
Every course in your doctoral program is designed to support your dissertation either through new
content knowledge or concepts that support your research question analysis. All of your papers in this
class should be NEW and not contain substantial portions of previously submitted work in other
courses.
Use RefWorks to organize your resources. If you decide not to use a resource for this part of the
prospectus, keep it, as it may be valuable later on.

Chapter 3: Draft
1. Introduction: Summarize the following elements from your work in this course:
a. The research problem/question from Chapter 1. What have you learned about your research
problem/question?
b. The key literature review information related to the research problem/question.
c. The applicable patient or population of the study and their needs.
2. Methodology: Identify the methodology you would select. Keep in mind that this is a hypothetical
approach (you will not be doing any testing), but this still must be a reasonable method based on the
variables selected and research question to be answered.
3. Research Design: State the research design you would select to support your selection. Refer to
Roberts (2010), Chapter 12 for an example of how to describe a research design.
4. Data Collection: Develop a table that displays all possible sources (not references) that will aid in
answering your research questions (people, positions, databases, locations, etc.). See the example
table below.
