Classify the wave conditions in question 1 as either linear or non-linear and indicate, for the non-linear condition(s), an analytical theory (or theories) suitable for describing the waves. [10 marks] 4. For the case(s) for which linear wave theory is identified as unsuitable in question 3, note what effects the non-linearity would have on the calculated values in question 1. [10 marks] 5. Estimate the wave group velocity in a water depth of 30m if the wave period is 9s. [10 marks] 6. Estimate the wave power per unit length of wave crest in a train of regular waves if the wave height is 2m, the wavelength is 50m and the water depth is 15m. [10 marks] 7. A wave record taken during a storm is analysed by zero up crossing and contains 205 waves. The average wave height is 1.72m.
