Design Project Document

Design project will be done individually or teams of two students (instructor permission required).

Students can choose any digital signal processing project in the tech area of their interest. The

design project must be related to the course contents and must include design, implementation,

and testing/evaluation of one type of digital filters (e.g. FIR filters, IIR filters) from scratch.

1. Choose a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) project in the tech area of your interest

2. Develop a mathematical and processing model

3. Use the following techniques based on the design project needs:

● Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Conversion

● Analysis of systems in the z-Domain

● Frequency Response analysis of systems and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Algorithms

● Design of FIR Filters; Fourier methods or window design method

● Design of IIR Filters from Analog Filters. IIR Filter Design by Impulse Invariance or Bilinear Transformation. Butterworth Filters or Chebyshev Filters

● Linear prediction and optimum linear filters

● Random Process

4. Define the system specifications

5. Study the performance of the system by writing MATLAB (or equivalent) codes

6. Write a formal report using the IEEE paper template

7. Prepare the final presentation using ppt document
