Question
Drawing from both our course materials and personal experiences, showcase a deep understanding of at least one of the listed organizational behavior concepts through behavioral analysis. The aim is to connect real-life experiences with theoretical concepts (from the list below). For the second individual paper, you will choose topic: -Perception/Decision Making Prepare a short (500 words) write-up including Very short description of the firm (1 sentence is enough) Your assessment of the state of things for your choice (i.e. if you are focusing on motivation, and chose Expectancy Theory to analyze it, you would start by discussing what the general level of motivation is (high, low, some departments/silos high others low, etc.)) The “proof” (in the form of your observations -be specific, focus on the behavioral observations, avoid generalized statements and evaluations with adjectives (i.e. don’t tell the reader: they were “hardworking,” show the evidence that led you to this conclusion)) The reasons (this will be part your analysis of organization, partly educated “speculation”) The solutions (suggest ways to improve the organization -again, be specific and detailed; draw on the course content) This is a short paper. Creating a short paper to surface an issue, move a conversation to the next stage, or provide authority with succinct information is an important skill. The main challenge in this paper, as with all papers in this course, is thorough editing. Provide what needs to be written (no more and no less), in a succinct, professional, and easily readable format and style. Taking a complex issue and distilling the essential elements in a short, effective, and accurate written format is a skill that takes time to master. Be mindful: Does every sentence need to be in the paper? Can a twelve-word sentence be edited down to five well-chosen words for greater effectiveness? Technical details -as always-: 12 pt font, 1" margins, 1.5 or double space. This makes your paper more visually appealing and easier to read.
