FDY3007 Planning for Your Future Success Portfolio Page 1 of 11 [34381 Assessment Brief As part of the formal assessment for the module Planning for Your Future Success, you are required to submit the assessment that is described in this assessment brief. Learning Outcomes: After completing the module, you should be able to: 1. Identify and explain a range of professional and digital skills that are required in a career area that relates to your degree choice. 2. Evaluate own areas for development for future success. 3. Demonstrate an awareness of educational and employability developmental opportunities relating to degree choice by planning for future employment. 4. Graduate Attribute 3 Socially Intelligent and Proactively Inclusive. Team engagement is evidenced while experiencing different views of others, including an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion. All learning outcomes must be met to pass the module. Page 2 of 11 Guidance Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in (see referencing section for more information). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work. Page 3 of 11 For this assignment, you are required to submit a portfolio of evidence demonstrating that you can research a graduate-level career and put together a plan that will help you to achieve your potential academically and in a career sense, so that by the end of your degree, you are ready for the graduate workplace. It is important to note that this portfolio is about you and your choices, aspirations and goals. You should give specific, personal detail, describing the path you intend to take (in other words, be reflective about planning for your future). Task 1: Graduate careers, professional skills, and you (LO1, LO4: 1000 words) In this task, you will research and discuss a potential future career pathway that your degree programme could open up for you. You will explain your interest behind your choice of degree programme and career and will explore the key professional skills that you will need to acquire during your degree, and then use on the job. This task is a reflective piece of writing, and you are required to respond to the four sub- headings below. 1. Career Research Using the prospects.ac.uk website, research and describe in your own words a graduate-level career pathway that is of interest to you. Explain what the career pathway involves, including roles and responsibilities, and how your chosen industry promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace. You should include references to some of the concepts and theories found in iLearn lessons 5 and 7. 2. Career Motivation Explain your interest in this career. What attracts you to this role? Consider and discuss the potential long-term implications of your career choice. This may include job stability, work-life balance, and the potential for personal and professional growth. You should include references to some of the concepts and theories found in iLearn lesson 3. 3. Degree Choice How does your degree programme relate to your career choice? Is your current degree programme the best option – or is there a degree that is a better fit? You should review iLearn lesson 2 when writing this section. 4. Professional and Digital Skills Graduate-level jobs require a wide range of professional and digital skills. Discuss what you think appear to be the two most important professional skills, and one digital skill needed for the role you have discussed in this task. In Task 2, you will be required to evaluate the same three skills. Page 4 of 11 [3438] Task 2: SMART action goals - maximising your potential (LO2, LO3: 1000 words) In the previous task, you identified two key professional and one digital skill that would be needed in your graduate role. In this task, you will evaluate your current aptitude in these professional/digital skills, identifying your current strengths and weaknesses. You will then write a SMART action goal, where you will detail what you need to do next to further develop this skill. In your SMART action goal, you should make reference to the wide range of resources that can help you succeed in your future career that you have been introduced to throughout this module (e.g., Arden Futures). SMART stands for: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound. Professional skill 1: Professional skill 2: Digital skill: What are your current strengths regarding this skill? Give examples and evidence from your studies and work/home life Where could you improve further? What aspects of the skill do have you less experience or confidence in?
