This task enables you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding about relevant aspects of

your work interests by investigating, analysing and evaluating a work-related issue or a practical

work activity.

Description of assessment

Prepare a report about a specific aspect of work. Your report should identify the aspect of work that

you are investigating, and include analysis and evaluation of the aspect as a demonstration of your

knowledge and understanding about issues or activities that are relevant to industry and the

workplace.

Choose an aspect of work to investigate. You can choose either a PRACTICAL or an ISSUE:

Practical Investigation

Upon negotiation with your teacher, choose a practical activity that draws on your own

experiences of a workplace. This could be based on a particular product or task or service

that you have been responsible for, or for which you would like to carry out in a future job.

Your report should show the process of how you plan, make and deliver your practical

activity, and include an evaluation of its effectiveness in the workplace. Conclude with your

own opinions about the 'pros' and 'cons' and what, if anything, could be different.

Issues Investigation

Upon negotiation with your teacher, select an issue of local, national or global significance

that is relevant to your focus industry. Investigate the issue using data and evidence from

industry, the workplace and the wider community.

Your report should highlight the significance of the issue by collating, presenting and

analysing the data you have sourced. Using this data, present a range of views about the

issue, and conclude with your own opinion./nissue, and conclude with your own opinion.

As part of your investigation, you may wish to consider:

• site photographs

• sketches

• designs

• operational procedures

• processes

• brochures

Assesment Conditions

The report may be presented in a range of forms, including written, oral, or multimodal form.

Multimodal forms can include an oral presentation supported by evidence such as photographs

and/or a video or PowerPoint presentation. You can discuss with your teacher the form of

presentation you wish to use.

Your investigation should be a maximum of 1000 words if written, or a maximum of 12 minutes if

oral, or the equivalent in multimodal form
