Question

In this journal, you will identify a research topic that you will expand on and implement during

HS 4995 Research Methods. NOTE: This project must be small and limited in scope or you will

not succeed during HS 4995 - if your project is too large, your instructor will ask you to revise.

You cannot move on to HS 4995 without an approved proposal.

During Units 3, 4, and 5, you developed Research Questions based on different health science

topics. Select one of your three topics and write a summary of your proposed topic. In your

summary, be sure to address all of the following:

1. Briefly introduce your topic and explain the relevance of your topic; be sure to draw on

knowledge gained throughout your program across the areas of the biopsychosocial

causes of illness, determinants of mental health and psychopathology, and disease

prevention and health promotion.

2. Identify and describe your research methodology (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed

methods)

3. Include your Research Questions for this topic (copied from the discussion response you

wrote earlier in the course)

4. Describe the research subjects/participants (sample size, age, gender, demographics.

etc.)

5. Describe how you plan to obtain data. NOTE: Data should be obtainable quickly, so you

should design a research project where you can use already-published secondary data or

where you can obtain data via a survey.

Your instructor will provide feedback this week for you to revise your topic during Week 8.

Instructor approval of your topic in Week 8 is required to move on to HS 4995.
