Question

Graph an image/figure using lines and restrictions! (50 marks in total)

Use the interactive online graphing tool "Desmos" to help you [https://www.desmos.com/calculator).

Part #2 Instructions:

1. Draw an image or figure on a sheet of paper. (5 marks)

2. Reconstruct the figure on a Cartesian plane using only lines with restrictions and

points on a sheet of paper (5 marks for figure)

show axis, points, and all calculations for each line you put in the table - 10 marks)

You should have:

i. at least one line with a positive slope;

ii. at least one line with a negative slope;

iii. at least one line that is horizontal;

iv. at least one lines that is vertical;

v. at least one pair of lines that are parallel;

vi. at least one pair of lines that are perpendicular; and

vii. a minimum of 12 lines that construct your figure/image from point 2.

3. Take your reconstructed figure from above and plot it in the Desmos Graphing

Calculator. (15 marks)

4. Fill in the table on the next page. Organization and neatness matters. (10 marks)

5. Once complete, share your graph you created on Desmos with your instructor by

sending an email with the subject "Math 1152: Linear Project Part 2" (5 marks)

Watch video on how to share a link to your Desmos graph (here)

6. Create one .pdf file that includes

title page (use first page of this document, filled out)

your hand-drawn image (item 1 of Instructions)

your hand-drawn image made of lines (item 2 of Instruction)

a screen shot of Desmos image (identify each line from the table,

make a legend if necessary)

Complete the table below. Provide only one example under each category. If you

have used more than one line under a category, then pick the line with the

smallest slope magnitude.

Type of Line Image

Positive Slope Ex: Line #1: y = 2x + 1

Negative Slope

Horizontal Line

Vertical Line

Equation(s) of the Line from Restrictions to the Domain (x-

values) or Range (y-values)

Parallel Lines

(provide one

pair only)

Perpendicular

Ex: Line #1: {-2 ≤x≤ 0}

IMPORTANT: Take a screen shot image of your entire Desmos graph and attach it to this project.
