Instructions for Information Security Technical Controls Presentation
Create a Presentation of the Technical Topic you selected: Intrusion Detection System for a fictitious generative AI company called PowerAI.
Complete a minimum 5-7 slide PowerPoint presentation (not including heading or closing slides) on your topic that is targeted at senior leadership, CISO, CIO, CLO in your sector organization. If you are unable to present in class, you may create it in advance in Voice Thread or using the Power point audio and automated slide advance.
Those not doing pre-recording will need to annotate the presentation with complete supporting notes in the Notes part of your PowerPoint as though one of your classmates had to present it in your absence.
The final presentation should take a total of 10-12 minutes.
Within the presentation include the following:
Provide a description of your technical cybersecurity control. What are the component parts and how does it work? For example, what are the goals of an email attachment control? What type of attachments do they handle and what resolutions do they present when anomalies are encountered. What products are on the market for your specific email solution? You should present what the control will accomplish to further cyber security at an organization such as your sector choice.
Address the specific Threats, Vulnerabilities, and Impacts on people, process, & technology that would you expect your defensive measure to reduce. How would you divide its effect [e.g. people .7, process .2, technology .1] or [people-high, process-moderate, technology-low].
Are there any prerequisites needed to be in place before you can even consider a control? E.G. for an email attachment analysis control you will need possession or control over the email server.
For an organization the size of your sector selection, what is a ball park annual figure for acquiring the resources necessary to implement it? Be sure to include “hidden” costs like the time it might take away from your employee time servicing customers. Your figures do not need to be accurate, but please attempt to keep them within an order of magnitude.
What are the potential social/cultural implications of implementing your control?
Supplement your presentation with images, graphs, tables, etc. Do not just present word slides.
Include your list of references as a final slide.
